Transport Manager calendar
An essential legislative round-up and technical update highlighting the main topics on the horizon that you need to be aware of to ensure the safety, compliance and efficiency of your organisation.
A view from the Traffic Commissioner
An opportunity for delegates to hear from our keynote speaker, the Traffic Commissioner. Understand their priorities for the year ahead and ensure you avoid non-compliance from the latest action taken on operators at public inquiries.
Enforcement priorities and roadside stops
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will be sharing its priorities when it comes to enforcement and targeting. Discover the latest common issues they are encountering at the roadside, the processes and outcomes, and how you can ensure your drivers are prepared in the event of a roadside stop.
Apprenticeships and skills
With the Government funding LGV apprenticeships, the industry has a route to train new or existing staff and gain their Category C and Category C+E licence. Delegates will hear from FTA experts on the process for Apprenticeship Levy payers and non-Levy payers, including a detailed ‘how to’ guide in setting up an apprenticeship programme.
City centre truck restrictions
Over the next three years a series of blanket restrictions will come into force in UK cities for HGVs and vans. With retrofitting of existing vehicles unlikely to be an option for most operators, Transport Managers need to be prepared for what is ahead, so the procurement of future fleets can be planned. This session will set out details of around 25 cities expected to introduce charges on pre Euro VI HGVs and vans between the start of 2019 and the end of 2020, and the London Direct Vision Standard, that may see more than half the HGVs that currently visit London banned completely by 2020.
City Centre Truck Restrictions – the manufacturers’ perspective
Our headline sponsor, Iveco, will give the perspective of the manufacturers to proposed city centre restrictions on air quality and London’s Direct Vision Standard. Martin Flach will provide an update on alternative fuel vehicles and the demands for Euro VI trucks to meet the governments proposed air quality bill.
You be the MAC
A look at some of the most common and more obscure issues our Member Advice Centre are supporting members on. This interactive session will incorporate delegate participation, where you will have the opportunity to vote on what you think is the right answer to common operational and compliance questions.
Terrorism and HGV security
With recent terrorist atrocities across the UK and Europe, involving commercial vehicles, there is now a real need for Transport Managers to do everything they can to safeguard their vehicles from a potential terrorist threat. Hear from Counter-Terrorism Police about the pattern of attacks using vehicles, their best practice advice for keeping drivers and vehicles safe and the danger signs to look for.
Vehicle cameras and data protection
Operators are increasingly making use of in-cab technology for monitoring driver performance and guarding against bogus insurance claims, but what are the legal issues operators have to consider before installing the hardware, what are the data protection implications, and what will the General Data Protection Regulation mean for operators when it comes into force in May 2018? This session will investigate the use of this technology, including the legal implications, fitment, and the usage and storage of data being gathered.
